Vol. 401 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tenant Purchase Schemes.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

58 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline, in respect of the tenant purchase scheme of each housing authority, (1) the number of applications (2) the number who agreed to purchase (3) the number of completed sales (4) the total money received (5) the average cost per house; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I take it that the Deputy is referring to the special tenant purchase scheme which I introduced in 1988. The administration of this scheme is a matter for each local authority who would have detailed information in respect of the operation of the scheme in their areas. With regard to the number of applications received, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Questions Nos. 5, 11, 24 and 111 of 7 February 1989. The other information sought, in so far as it is available in my Department, is being compiled and will be sent to the Deputy as soon as possible.
