Westport Harbour Commissioners are responsible for the maintenance of Westport Harbour.
My Department's fishery harbour development programme, which covers the period up to the end of 1993, followed a detailed study of the infrastructural needs of the fishing industry and also relied, to a significant extent, on the priorities submitted by the local authorities. On this basis it is difficult to see how funds could be made available by my Department for dredging works at Westport Harbour during the period of the programme.
