Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - Prospecting Licences.

Enda Kenny

Question:

139 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Energy if, in accordance with the conditions for prospecting licences, as set down in the Minerals Development Acts, 1940 to 1979 and referred to in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 151 of 27 June 1990, in regard to County Mayo, he will outline the estimated quantity and value, in US dollars, of each ore body so located, determined and reported to his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I have stated to this House on previous occasions the Departmental practice has been that all information furnished by a prospecting licence holder during the currency of the licence is treated as confidential. It is a matter for the companies concerned to release information to the extent they consider appropriate.
