Question:188 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if he has considered the establishment of therapeutic hostels for the more damaged and disturbed young homeless with whom existing hostels cannot cope.

I am pleased to say that a sum of £500,000 from national lottery funds is being channelled towards young homeless who cannot be adequately catered for under existing arrangements.
I am in contact with a number of health boards, including the Eastern Health Board, about various proposals and I will announce details as soon as specific plans have been agreed.
