Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Computers.

Liam Kavanagh

Question:

52 Mr. Kavanagh asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that only 48 per cent of schools have at least one computer; the outcome of the 1985-86 pilot scheme; if she intends to introduce a computer programme for national schools; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I received the report of the primary curriculum review body recently which has made recommendations on information technology in the primary school. The views of all interested parties on the review body's recommendations are being sought at present. Pending receipt and consideration of these views I do not intend to make any statements on the subject matter of the recommendations.
