Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - Parent-Teacher Meetings.

William Cotter

Question:

88 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that in national schools in which the principal is obliged to teach a full week, no provision is made for essential meetings with parents and for the counselling of truant pupils; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The making of arrangements for the carry-out of principal teachers' administrative and related duties in the circumstances referred to by the Deputy is a matter for local management. School organisation is one of the issues being examined by the primary education review body which is due to report shortly.
