Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Inspectors.

Jim Higgins

Question:

94 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the number and different categories of inspectors employed at primary and post-primary level; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The numbers employed in the primary and post-primary inspectorates are:

Primary Inspectorate — 81;

Post-Primary Inspectorate — 58.

In addition, there are eight other inspectors whose functions span both the primary and post-primary sectors.
Separate categories of inspectors, as such, do not exist at either primary or post-primary level. There are, of course, different levels of grading in both inspectorates.
