96 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding her commitment to introduce political and social studies on to the second level curriculum; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
In the context of the review of courses for the new junior certificate programme, I have asked the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment to review the provision for civics. This review would encompass elements of civil, social and political education. I await the council's proposals.
