197 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Justice if the Government, having asked other European countries to ratify the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners, will indicate the steps which they are taking in this regard.
201 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice the progress made to date on the consideration of protocol and legislative measures necessary to ratify the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners; and when it is expected that a statement can be made on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 197 and 201 together.
The practical and legislative measures which may be necessary to enable ratification of the Council of Europe's Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons to take place are under active consideration in my Department. Any decisions reached on this matter will be announced in the usual way.
