202 Mr. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice if he has any proposals to amalgamate the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds into one organisation; the form such an organisation would take; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
As I have already announced publicly, the Government have approved in principle the preparation of legislation to convert the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds into a semi-State body.
The precise form that such a body may take has not yet been finally decided — the matter is still under consideration.
