Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Killinarden (Dublin) School.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

318 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to deal with the structural fault in Killinarden Community School, Dublin 24 which has resulted in four of the classrooms having no heating for four years; and if she will, in the meantime, provide the funds so that temporary heaters can be purchased.

Mervyn Taylor

Question:

331 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if approval will be given for the repairs to the central heating system in a school (details supplied) in Dublin 24, in view of the fact that four classrooms have been without heating for three years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 318 and 331 together.

The design team for this school have been asked to arrange for repairs to be carried out to rectify the defects in the section of the heating system serving the classrooms in question at Killinarden Community School. It is expected that the work can be carried out quickly so that heating will be restored without undue delay to the three classrooms effected. Meanwhile, these rooms are being heated temporarily by means of electric heaters.
