Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork School Transport.

Paul Bradford

Question:

319 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if she will extend the Churchtown South/Midleton school bus (Route 350) to Ballyandreen Cross, County Cork as requested by the local community council.

The 19 pupils in question here live well within the distance criteria of three miles set down in the current post-primary school transport scheme — 14 live between 0.6 miles and 1.4 miles of the route with only two pupils living as far as 2.0 miles from the route.

The existing school transport service caters adequately for the pupils in question and the introduction of an extension giving rise to extra State cost would not be warranted.
