Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - Donegal Schools.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

140 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Education the up to date position regarding proposals to develop St. Patrick's national school, Murlog, County Donegal; and if, in view of the urgent need for improved facilities, she will take steps to ensure that work commences at the earliest possible date.

I have recently approved the invitation of tenders for the St. Patrick's national school project and the formal arrangements in this regard are in hands.

However, I can assure the Deputy that there will be no avoidable delay in this matter and I will keep him advised of developments.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

141 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Education if she will make a statement in relation to Donagh national school, Carndonagh, County Donegal, where the local community have been waiting for years for a new school.

My Department has been advised by the architects engaged by Donagh national school authorities that the tenders for the project have been received and will be submitted shortly. When the complete tender documentation and recommendations have been received and examined in the Department the question of authorising the school authorities to proceed with the contract will be considered with the minimum of delay.
