Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - Burren (Clare) National Park.

Donal Carey

Question:

86 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Finance if he has completed the purchase of land for the national park in the Burren area of County Clare; and the sums allocated each year since the project was first initiated.

The acquisition progamme for the Burren National Park is well advanced but it is not yet completed. Further limited areas in the vicinity of Mullaghmore may be acquired if funds are available for this purpose and should landowners be interested in disposing of their holdings. The lands acquired to date were purchased with moneys from a general allocation for acquisition of property in the Vote of the Office of Public Works. There was no specific fund available solely for the purchase of lands in the Burren.
