Vol. 402 No. 3

Written Answers. - St. John's Castle, Waterford.

Austin Deasy

Question:

89 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Finance the steps which are being taken to establish a Heritage Centre at King John's Castle, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

The Commissioners of Public Works have no proposals for the establishment of a Heritage Centre at King John's Castle, Dungarvan, County Waterford.

A major scheme of conservation works, involving also archaeological excavation works, would be required initially, and the possibility would then exist for the provision of an interpretative centre for visitors to this national monument.

In the meantime and with the consent of the commissioners, FÁS have been carrying out some works at the castle complex which will facilitate visitors.
