50 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan was refused a development grant for the development of a poultry unit, given that the applicant has already succeeded in getting the approval of Monaghan County Council for this grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The eastern development fund, which is administered on my behalf by the central development committee together with the county development teams, may not be used for grant aid for any project which would be in contravention of national policy. In the case referred to, the position is that EC Regulation No. 866/90 precludes any financial assistance for egg production.
