Vol. 403 No. 2

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grants.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

60 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if, in relation to the number of house improvement grants paid since 1 June 1987, he will outline: (1) the number of cases in which a reduced grant was paid, (2) the total amount of moneys withheld in respect of such cases and (3) whether any provision exists whereby outstanding balances can be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It would not be practicable, having regard to the inordinate commitment of staff time and resources that would be involved, to compile the information requested in the first two parts of the question. In any individual case where it is subsequently established that a higher grant than that already paid is warranted, a supplementary payment can be made.
