Question:

256 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if she intends issuing a circular letter to schools and colleges in relation to the implications of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989; if safety representatives will be provided with in-service training; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

293 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education the plans she has for implementing the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989, in schools; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 256 and 293 together.

My Department are currently in contact with interested parties with a view to discussing the implications for schools of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989.
