Question:

17 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the extent of the food and drink mountain resulting from the Common Agricultural Policy which is retained within the State; and its value.

At the end of November 1990, a total of 359,888 tonnes of food products with a value of £291.71 million were held in public intervention storage within the State. The products involved are beef, skim milk powder, butter and cereals.
