Vol. 403 No. 10

Written Answers. - Book of Estimates.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

127 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Health the reason for the increases in Vote 42 subheads G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 in the 1991 Book of Estimates (Abridged Version); and if he will give details of the G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 expenditures.

The increases in subheads G1 to G5, and the constituent elements thereof are set out in the following table, which I will circulate in the Official Report. The total increase on these subheads over the 1990 provision amounts to £115.931 million or 8.5 per cent. As regards subheads G1 to G 4 the increase is £97.723 million. Of this £78.307 million relates to pay increases and £19.416 million is in respect of non-pay costs including inflation. A further £18.208 million increase on subhead G5 relates to the recoupment of balances of expenditure incurred in years prior to 1991.
