Vol. 404 No. 2

Written Answers. - Enforcement of Building Regulations.

Richard Bruton

Question:

98 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment whether building regulations are now legally enforceable; and if sufficient trained staff are available in the local authorities to properly apply them.

Draft Building Regulations prepared under the Building Control Act, 1990, were circulated in recent months to interested bodies and were also submitted to the European Commission in accordance with the requirements of an EC Directive. The comments received are being examined and every effort will be made to finalise the regulations at the earliest possible date.
