Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - Appointment of Clerical Assistant.

Paul Bradford

Question:

130 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a clerical assistant has not yet been provided at the social welfare office in Mallow, County Cork; and if this matter will be rectified in the near future.

The provision of clerical assistants at appropriate offices of the Department around the country is part of my Department's policy to progressively provide a more comprehensive service to the public at local level.

Plans for the reorganisation of the administration of social welfare services on regional lines are well advanced. The provision of additional clerical support as resources allow, including a clerical assistant in Mallow, forms part of these reorganisation plans which will be implemented once the negotiations with staff associations are completed.
