Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Policing.

Chris Flood

Question:

145 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the concerns of residents in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 at the perceived low level policing in the area with particular reference to Garda foot patrols; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The detailed policing arrangements for individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who inform me that the position in relation to the Clondalkin area is at present under review. I am glad to say that four additional gardaí will be assigned to Ronanstown on 15 February 1990. The question of further improvements in policing in the area will be kept under consideration.

The number of gardaí deployed on foot patrol duties in this general area can vary from time to time, but I understand that each of the eight community gardaí assigned to Clondalkin and Ronanstown stations spends his entire tour of duty on foot patrol in his sub-district.
