Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - District Nurse Service.

Tony Gregory

Question:

192 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the reasons the district nurse service which for so long has been a valuable community service, in an area (details supplied) in Dublin 3, has been removed; and if he will direct that the service be returned to this disadvantaged area.

I am informed by the Eastern Health Board that there has been no diminution whatsoever in the level of public health nursing services rendered in the Ballybough Court area. All elderly people who are considered in any way to be vulnerable, whether it be for medical, social and other reasons are visited by the local public health nurse for the purpose of assessing their needs, rendering specific nursing services, involving other professionals and carers as necessary, and generally ensuring their well-being.
