Question:193 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education if she will make a statement on the progress for the provision of a detention centre for young women as promised in Dáil Éireann on 27 February 1990.
Written Answers. - Detention Centre for Young Women.
In relation to the special residential centre the position is that, a committee was appointed by me to determine the needs of the proposed centre and to draw up a schedule of accommodation. This work has now been completed and a team of consultants has been appointed to undertake the detailed planning of the centre as a matter of urgency.
