Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Schools Transport.

John Connor

Question:

198 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the serious hardship and disruption caused by the cutback and restriction of school transport to Loughlynn and Cloonbonniffe national schools, County Roscommon; whether her Department intend to provide the necessary funding to continue the service after the Easter break in these schools; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I would like to assure the Deputy that there has been no change in the general conditions and criteria covering school transport arrangements.

Under the established criteria the children travelling to Loughlynn and Cloonbonniffe national schools, County Roscommon, do not qualify for school transport but had availed of concessionary arrangements which by their nature are usually of short duration.
