Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - IRA Threats.

Brendan McGahon

Question:

44 Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the IRA threat to members of the Garda Síochána and Defence Forces personnel in relation to the purchasing of goods in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that leaflets were circulated in the South Armagh area last November which contained threats to Northern Ireland shop-keepers who serve off-duty members of the Garda Síochána and Defence Forces. The leaflets also contained threats to Garda and Army personnel. I know that all sides of the House will join with me in condemning these threats and the arrogant disregard of those who make them for the rights and liberties of others.
