Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fight Against Terrorism.

John Bruton

Question:

64 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice if he proposes to take any further steps as a result of the contents of the Charter of Paris, signed by the Taoiseach, which unreservedly condemns as criminal, all acts, methods and practices of terrorism and expressed determination to work for its eradication both bilaterally and through multilateral co-operation.

The Government is committed to a policy of intergovernmental co-operation in the fight against terrorism and this objective is pursued in the various international fora where the problem is discussed. For example, under my chairmanship in the first half of last year European Community Ministers for Justice and of the Interior with responsibility for security matters met in Dublin and approved a programme of action containing specific measures designed to re-inforce and enhance that co-operation in the future. Work on implementation of that programme of action is progressing.
