Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - Parking By-Laws.

Ivor Callely

Question:

76 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the unacceptable situation where large commercial vehicles park on residential roads in the Dublin area; and if he will consider introducing simple parking controls to prevent this abuse.

As Minister for Justice I do not have responsibility for the control and regulation of the parking of vehicles on public roads. Such control and regulation is effected by means of by-laws and temporary rules made under the Road Traffic Acts by the Garda Commissioner after consultation with the local authority concerned and with the consent of the Minister for the Environment.
