Vol. 404 No. 6

Written Answers. - DIRT Tax Refund.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

92 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive a refund of his DIRT tax.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim to repayment of deposit interest retention tax for the year ended 5 April, 1990 on 11 April 1990. However, he omitted to submit a certificate of deposit interest paid from the Post Office Savings Bank.

The Inspector of Taxes wrote to him in May and in October 1990 requesting this certificate. On receipt of same the question of a refund will be dealt with.
