Vol. 404 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Speech Therapy Facilities.

Austin Currie

Question:

170 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health the numbers on the waiting list for speech therapy at Ballyfermot Speech Clinic, Dublin 22; when a child (details supplied) who is on the list can expect to commence training; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of speech therapy services in the Ballyfermot area is essentially a matter for the Eastern Health Board. The board in common with other health boards is experiencing difficulty in recruiting speech therapists. I am informed by the board that there are 99 children on the waiting list at the Ballyfermot clinic. The board have, however, indicated that the child in question will be seen in the near future.
