Vol. 404 No. 7

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Legislation.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

54 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment whether he accepts the need for a comprehensive review of road traffic legislation; if so, when this will take place; and when up to date legislation will be circulated.

A considerable amount of work has been undertaken by my Department in relation to a review of the Road Traffic Acts. However, priority is being given to two Bills — one to establish a statutory national roads authority and update the law on public roads and the other to deal with insurance and motor tax evasion and drink driving.
