Vol. 404 No. 7

Written Answers. - Waterford-Dublin Road.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

108 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the upgrading of the main Waterford-Dublin road at Sallypark was not included in the operational programme on peripherality; when he intends approving the project and providing the necessary funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The proposed major improvement projects on national primary roads which are listed in the operational programme on peripherality were selected having regard to the overall level of funds available for such schemes in the period and their priority rating in the context of the general criteria for selection outlined in paragraph 4.34 of the programme.

Because of the priority rating of the schemes selected for inclusion in the list, it was not possible to include the Sallypark project in the present programme.
