Question:

87 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education if she will approve the provision of home economics furniture and equipment and other fixtures for Aranmore post-primary school, County Donegal and an extra classroom to facilitate next September's extra enrolment.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 86 and 87 together.

With regard to the provision of furnitue and equipment for home econmics and other specialist subjects I refer the Deputy to my reply of 5 February 1991 in relation to this matter.

The question of the provision of adequate accommodation to meet the anticipated enrolment in the school in September 1991 is the subject of ongoing discussions between my Department and the chief executive officer of County Donegal VEC.

The question of permanent accommodation for the school does not arise at this time as the school was given recognition on a provisional basis for a period of five years from 1 September 1990. During and at the end of that period the long term viability of the school will be assessed by my Department.
