97 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will outline (a) the requested and, (b) the sanctioned fare increases sought by Aer Lingus since 1987.
Since 1987, Aer Lingus have been operating air services on over 35 routes and on most routes there are at least six fare types, both inbound and outbound. Each fare type has changed at least once annually and considerably more often on the busier and more competitive routes. Accordingly, it would not be practicable, having regard to the time available and the inordinate commitment of staff time and resources that would be involved, to compile in full the information requested.
However, information regarding the more general fare changes over the period is as follows:
