Question:209 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Energy if he proposes to extend the gas grid to the Blarney, Glanmire and Riverstown areas of County Cork.
Written Answers. - Gas Grid Extension.
The provision of natural gas to areas not catered for by the existing grid is a matter for Bord Gáis Éireann.
I understand from the board that, at the present time, they do not have any plans to extend the grid to Blarney, Glanmire or Riverstown, because the size of the potential loads in these areas and the significant capital costs involved mean that viable projects could not be put in place.
