The following table sets out the total amount paid to An Post for all services provided by An Post in respect of each year since 1984.
The very large increases in payments in the years 1987 and 1988 were due to the transfer to my Department in 1987 of the forestry functions from the former Department of Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry. In 1989 a new body, Coillte Teoranta, were established which took over the work of commercial afforestation from my Department.
