Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Department Expenditure on Consultancy Services.

Dick Spring

Question:

226 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give a breakdown on the amount of money his Department intends to spend on consultancy services in 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total amount of money assigned for spending on consultancy services in 1991 is £647,000 and this amount will be shown in the revised estimates volume for 1991 to be published shortly. A provision amounting to £562,000 is included in respect of fees and expenses for various information technology related projects including strategic studies and assistance with the design and development of computer systems.

In addition, £85,000 is included for other commissioned surveys and studies. These will mainly arise in the context of a social policy research programme, which the Department is currently discussing with the ESRI.
