Question:

245 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice if his Department use private couriers to deliver departmental correspondence; the courier firms which are currently engaged; and the total amount paid to private courier firms for each year since 1984.

My Department do not in the normal course of events employ private courier services. However, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal avail of the services of a private courier and in the period from 1984 the following amounts were paid by the Tribunal to Pony Express Ltd.: 1989, £114; 1990, £94.
