On 13 February 1991 I approved Dublin Corporation's proposals for the appointment of consultants to carry out a feasibility and environmental impact study of the proposed port access and eastern relief route. These studies, which will be integrated and carried out simultaneously, will take about six months to complete.
The planning and development of proposals for road improvement works is primarily the responsibility of the local authority concerned and the provision of funding from State road grants is conditional on the authority examining the possibility of securing the necessary improvements by way of a traffic management solution.
