261 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the list of Bills in preparation in his Department; the main purposes of each Bill; and the session in which each Bill is expected to be introduced.

The following Bills are in preparation:

To establish a National Roads Authority and otherwise to amend roads legislation.

2. Housing Bill

To give effect to new schemes set out in the Plan for Social Housing.

3. Electoral Bill

To amend and consolidate Dáil Electoral Law.

Current-Summer Session

4. Road Traffic-Driver and Vehicle Licensing Bill

To amend the law on drink driving and to counter motor tax and insurance evasion.

Autumn Session

5. Local Government Bill

To give effect to first stage of local government reform.

Current-Summer Session

6. Planning Bill

To modify and speed up planning appeal procedure.

Summer Session

7. Waster Bill

To provide a comprehensive modern framework for dealing with waste.
