Question:284 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the number of private patients who obtained elective surgery in public wards during 1990.

Information of this type is not currently available to my Department. However, the introduction of modified arrangements for admission to public beds, of the elective private patients of consultants, as set out in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, will enable this information to be available in future.
