Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Percentage of Gross National Products.

Austin Deasy

Question:

118 Mr. Deasy asked the Taoiseach the percentage of the country's gross national products which is represented by agricultural produce originating in this country, and products manufactured from this produce.

The information requested has been approximated using the value added of the agriculture sector together with that of the food, drink and leather sectors of Irish industry which depend mainly on agricultural raw materials.

The contribution of these sectors to gross national product in 1988 is estimated to have been 19 per cent at factor cost and 17 per cent at market prices.
