Vol. 405 No. 3

Written Answers. - Interrogation of Suspect.

Tony Gregory

Question:

132 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will raise with the British authorities the treatment under interrogation of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The interrogation of suspects in police holding centres in Northern Ireland is an issue which is monitored very carefully by my Department. The specific case to which the Deputy refers has been raised with the British authorities through the Anglo-Irish Secretariat in Belfast. I will communicate further with the Deputy as soon as a response is received.
