Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Dublin Dental Treatment Case.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

159 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the facts of a case (details supplied) in County Dublin, he will take steps to ensure that the necessary orthodontic dental treatment is provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This patient, who is now 17 years of age, was seen by the health board dental service in 1985. Eastern Health Board records show that the patient failed to keep further appointments in 1985.

I understand that approaches have recently been made to the health board about this case, seeking orthodontic treatment. I further understand that the patient's mother has been informed that the patient will be assessed for such treatment when certain routine work has been carried out.
