Question:

168 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health the number of persons admitted to psychiatric hospitals on alcohol-related problems; and the number of these who were aged 21 or under.

The number of admissions to psychiatric hospitals for alcohol-related problems during 1988, the latest date in respect of which figures are available, was 6,478. Of this total, 56 admissions were of patients under twenty years of age.
