Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - Gas Installation Grant Aid.

Bernard Allen

Question:

117 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Energy if he proposes to introduce a scheme whereby people will be encouraged, by means of grant aid, to install a gas supply to their homes, thus helping to reduce air pollution.

I do not intend to introduce a grant aid scheme as suggested by the Deputy. Regulation of air quality is a matter for the Minister for the Environment.

Bord Gáis Éireann operate promotional schemes to encourage potential customers to change over to natural gas. These are commercial arrangements and are decided on by Bord Gáis Éireann in the context of their marketing strategy.
