Vol. 405 No. 6

Written Answers. - Road Improvement Works.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

136 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Environment if he will send a Department inspector to view the condition of the N52 road from Kells, County Meath to Ardee, County Louth, as it is now in a dangerous condition; if he intends allocating special funds for repairs to be carried out on this roadway which is catering for a huge volume of traffic; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department's engineering inspectors visit local authorities on a regular basis in order, inter alia, to familiarise themselves with the condition of national roads in each area.

I will take account of the needs of the N52 route when the road grants for 1991 are being determined. I will notify these grants to local authorities shortly.

Paul McGrath

Question:

137 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the expenditure on the national primary N4 route in (a) County Westmeath and (b) County Mayo in each of the years 1987 to 1990; and the proposed expenditure for 1991.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to expenditure on road improvement works and that, in so far as County Mayo is concerned, the question relates to the N5 route.

The following is the information sought for the years 1987 to 1990:
