Vol. 405 No. 9

Written Answers. - Clonakilty, Cork, Water Scheme.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

160 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment when he will issue approval and sanction to Cork County Council for stage I of the distribution-improvement to Clonakilty regional water supply scheme, contract documents for which were forwarded to his Department on 21 December 1989.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

161 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Environment whether his attention has been drawn to (1) the urgency of proceeding with the distribution improvement of the Clonakilty regional water supply, County Cork and (2) the fact that contract documents were forwarded to him for approval on 21 December 1989; and if he will approve these documents immediately.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 160 and 161 together.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments and the competing demands for high priority schemes throughout the country, I am not at present in a position to approve this proposal. It is however included in the indicative lists of projects to be assisted under the operational programme for water and sanitary and other local services, 1989-1993.
