Vol. 405 No. 9

Written Answers. - Handicapped Child Allowance.

Bernard Allen

Question:

182 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health the reason it has taken three months to re-examine the application of a person (details supplied) in Cork on behalf of her daughter, whose handicapped children's allowance was discontinued in October, 1990 without any explanation even though she was in receipt of the allowance since she was three years of age and despite numerous approaches to the Southern Health Board.

Payment of a domiciliary care allowance for handicapped children in any individual case is a matter for the relevant health board. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been forwarded to the chief executive officer, Southern Health Board with a request that he reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
